Method and About

Sourced, comparable and honest about gaps

Sourced, comparable and honest about gaps

We record sources for findings, state the gaps, and aim to compare like with like.

How an engagement works

How an engagement works

1

Define the decision

We agree the decision the research should support, who will use it and the deadline.

2

Set the scope

Industry, geography, competitors, period, language, currency and the measures for each benchmark category.

3

Match the right companies

We agree which legal entities and brands are being compared before the comparison is made, and flag any match we cannot confirm.

4

Collect and label evidence

We use official records, filings, company material and other permitted sources. Each item keeps its source, date, unit and evidence status.

5

Compare and review

Measures are aligned by period and currency, with conversions stated. Material claims and calculations are checked before release.

6

Report

You receive findings, implications, the sources we recorded for them and the gaps. We also agree which signals are worth watching after the report.

What we will not do

What we will not do

  • Invent figures, rankings, results or testimonials.

  • Treat an unknown value as zero.

  • Infer sales from removed listings, headcount from social profiles, or company value from announced project or contract values.

  • Promise coverage of every private company, or describe periodic research as real-time.
